In our text, we read that Jesus reveals that one of His disciples would betray Him.  However, He chose not to combat or openly confront the betrayer (Judas Iscariot). Rather, He chose to allow it to happen because He was aware that this betrayal would put Him on the path towards finishing the work that the Father sent Him to complete.

Each of us has a purpose in fulfilling God’s plan for this earth.  Even though the road that lies ahead of us might be laden with troubles, trials, and tribulations, we still should press-on toward finishing that work.  The Christian walk is froth with stumbling blocks; betrayal is just one of many that we will face.

But none of the things that we face can separate us from the love of Christ!  When I look at the cross, I’m reminded of how much Christ cares for me!  When I look at the cross, I’m reminded of how much Christ has done for me!  When I think about what He did on Calvary, I’m reminded of His love for me!

What do you see when you look at the cross?

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the salvation that You give by grace through faith in Your Son Jesus Christ.  Help us to keep our hearts set on completing the work that You have for us.  Let us be reminded of the finished work of Christ whenever the struggle of this journey tries to bring us down.  We pray for the strength, courage, and boldness to continue pressing toward the mark of the high calling of Jesus Christ!  In His name we pray, Amen.
