Psalm 80

“Restore us, O, Lord God Almighty; make your face shine upon us,
that we may be saved"  Psalm 80:18

One of my favorite movies is “ Gone in 60 seconds” (the 2000 version with Nicolas Cage as Memphis Raines). The restored 1967 Shelby Mustang GT 500was once my dream car. “Eleanor” as she was called in the movie, was steel gray with a black stripe, had a super charged V8 and the horsepower to match her awesome looks.  For a while I thought of finding an old ’67 and trying to bring it back to life. I was just a kid in ‘67 but the restoration project and the Mustangs from that era really intrigued me. Unfortunately, I did not enough motivation or money to move forward.

I’m so glad I serve an awesome God, with whom neither money nor motivation are ever in the equation. A God who loved me enough to take on the restoration project of rescuing me out of the junk yard of life and renewing in me a new mind and new heart to seek after him. Jesus said to his disciples to “seek the kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” (Matthew 6:33) I thank God daily for sending His son and I look forward to that day when we are all reunited as brothers and sisters in His heavenly kingdom.

Dear God,
I pray today that You continue to restore in me that passion to grow closer to You.  Clean me up, Lord, and renew in me a right spirit so that I may know Your will and speak boldly to those who may be lost.
In Jesus name I pray, Amen
