John 12:12-19

John 12:16 – (His disciples didn’t realize at the time that this was a fulfillment of prophecy; but after Jesus returned to His glory in heaven, then they noticed how many prophecies of Scripture had come true before their eyes.)

Hindsight is 20/20 (twenty-twenty); once we look back into the past everything seems very clear.

We celebrate Palm Sunday – Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem on the back of a donkey, announcing that He was indeed the Messiah.  The people who were praising God for giving them a king had the wrong idea about Jesus.  They were sure He would restore their nation to its former glory and thus they were deaf to the words of their prophets and blind to Jesus real mission.

Are we as Christians today any different – so focused on self that we miss out on Jesus’ message to us – deaf to the Holy Spirit guidance.

After Jesus resurrection the disciples understood many of the prophecies, which they had missed along the way.  Jesus words and action took on new meaning and made more sense in retrospect; they saw how Jesus had led them into a deeper and better understanding of His truth.

Stop and think about the events in your life leading up to where you are now.  How God has led you to this point?  As you grow older, you will look back and see God’s involvement more clearly than you do now.  Let this truth encourage you to live a life of Faith today!
