Normally when people think of fruit there is a refreshing or tasty experience associated with looking at or biting into a savory piece. You are disappointed however when what was expected to be juicy or sweet is actually bitter. Fruit should, after all, produce after its own kind! Apples should taste like apples!

In this chapter of Luke, we are reminded that a tree is known by the fruit it produces.  As I examine my walk with Jesus, daily I question if I am bearing the correct fruit? If someone picked from my spiritual tree, what would the fruit taste like? Would their pickings be comparable to those from an orchard, or would fruit picked from my tree resemble a tasty apple but actually be rotten at the core?

The power within these few verses speaks to our hearts to govern our actions and deeds. Our obedience to the Lord enables us to yield the correct fruit. Surrendering to and obeying His voice causes our hearts to speak things like emotional health, financial blessings, and peace within our homes.  What fruit are you producing and does your heart agree?

Dear Father, help us to be rooted in your word and allow that same word to be engrafted into our hearts. I thank you that now we shall produce fruit which will yield benefits to the Kingdom of God. In Jesus name, Amen
