Psalm 39
Submitted by Minister Ezekiel Vaughn

I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.
Psalm 39:1

O spare me, that I may recover strength, before I go hence, and be no more. Psalm 39:13

Have you ever conducted a self-evaluation of yourself and came away disgusted?
First, if you were honest, you were unhappy with yourself.
Second, you probably put some of the blame for your situation or circumstances on someone else.
Finally, you may have even come up with a complaint against God.

Our devotional today lets us know that you are not alone.  Psalm 39 has been credited to Ethan, the well-known director of the temple choir.  He takes heed to his ways which means he is taking a self-evaluation and does not want to say the wrong thing to God.  Yet, he is not happy about his situation and wants to get some things off his chest.

Many days, we have issues with ourselves, others, and even God.  The Good News of this Psalm is:
There is always hope in God
Even with our short comings, the Lord has compassion.
Even when we act ugly, the Lord is still beautiful.
Even when we cry, the Lord gives peace in our tears.
Even when we are afraid, the Lord is near.
Finally, when we make our petition to God, He spares us and then adds strength.

The old saints had a song that says, He hears our faintest cry, and He’ll answer, by and byJust a little talk with Jesus makes it right.

Lord, when I praygive me the right words to say.  Lord when I pray, please keep me day to day, help me to live in a pure, humble, and sincere way.   Help me to know you so I can know myself.  Help me to be honest with you so I can be honest with myself and others.  In Jesus Name, Amen.
