Isaiah 54:9-10

Submitted by Deacon Aaron Cook

Isaiah's prophesy of everlasting love in this 54th chapter was sealed, as described in the 9th chapter of Genesis, with the sign of the rainbow.

The rainbow is a sight that no matter how many times I see one, I am always amazed and in awe of it's beauty and creation. As a kid, I had this same feelings of awe and amazement, however I didn’t fully understand what the rainbow really meant until much later in my young adult life. The rainbow is a reminder that while we still mess up and are not obedient to God, He is yet is faithful to his word and he will not go back on a promise. It's a reminder that the same love that God had for the children of Israel is afforded to me daily and that his grace and mercy will keep him from unleashing his wrath and giving me what I truly deserve. Lastly, it's a reminder that his everlasting love is unconditional and regardless of what is going on around me, that love cannot and will not be taken away; He promised it!

God's promises to those who are called according to his purpose are many and my prayer today is that our hearts and minds are fixed and that we take it not for granted but appreciate the awesome kindness that we are shown by the One who has all power to direct our lives.

Dear Lord, we thank you this day for you love, your grace and your mercy.  We thank you that your love is everlasting and your mercy endures forever.  In Jesus name we pray, Amen
