John 12:20-36

Submitted by Minister Yvonne McDonald

“And I, If I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.” While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light.  These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them. John 12:32

This would be the outer court of the Gentiles that were not allowed to eat of the feast unless they were proselytes: not born of the land and uncircumcised.

Jesus predicts and illustrates his death.  He compares it to a grain of wheat that falls into the ground and dies alone.  When it dies, it brings forth much fruit.  After this, Jesus departed and hid Himself from them.

In this demonstration, to love this earthly life would be to lose it.  He that hateth this worldly life shall gain it, eternal.  If a man serves Christ he will followbe with Him and will be honored by the Father.

Christ speaks that His soul is troubled and asks the Father to save him from this hour in which He was destined from birth.   “Father, glorify thy name.  Then an audible voice thundered through, “ I have both glorified it and will glorify it again.  The people stood by and heard it.  Jesus answered and said, “This voice came because of me, but for your sakes.”  Now is the judgment of this world, the prince of this world is to be cast out.

And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

All men, does not mean that Jesus will draw to everyone created, but those who put their faith in Him throughout history.

It is a necessity for Christ to dieand be resurrected as a blade that springs up one of dead grain.; with His manifestation and glorification to abundant fruit. He can not establish a glorious church unless He is glorified. The Messiah does abide forever, but like the sun He is not always visible. Believe in me while you can and be children of the Light.

Jesus points to the specification of action on the light that people have.  In essence one must become a child of the light in order to walk in the light.

If we understand multiplication and the decomposition of one little seed; why do we not understand the infinite purpose and work of God in redeeming man through the death burial and resurrection of the Christ, we believe?

We have in these scriptures, two concepts: (1) Lift Him up and He will do the drawing. This drawing is the force that causes you to be propelled toward the altar: you don’t know how you got there.  Your spirit moves before you and you find yourself standing, reaching out to a man of God to give him your hand and to give God your heart.

(2) He is the Light of the world, we must believe it to receive it. Walk in the light of the scriptures that make our pathway bright. Think of the Light you are putting on and wearing as the person of the Holy Spirit. That Light leads you to the kingdom of God, His revelation knowledge, His delegated power; and to all truths.

Heavenly Father, we lift up the name of your darling Son, Jesus.  Thank youfor leading us out of darkness to walk in His marvelous light.  We praise you for the awesome word of truth that guides us to the light of the world.  That Light is Jesus the Christ, whose blood cleanses us from all unrighteousness and never loses its power.  In His name we pray, Amen.
