Membership in the Deacons & Ministers Wives (DMW) Ministry is established by being the wife of an SMBC Deacon or Minister. As extension of their husbands, members are called to serve as leaders and examples for the women of the church, offering wisdom, guidance, and spiritual support. Their role includes assisting the Pastor and Deacons in promoting the spiritual growth and unity of the church.

The DMW Ministry plays a vital role in supporting the two ordinances of the church- The Lord’s Supper (Communion) and Baptism. Members accompany their husbands when Communion is delivered to shut-in members. They also support Baptism by contacting and preparing candidates to ensure the experience is meaningful and memorable.

For the funeral of a minister, deacon, minister’s wife, deacon’s wife, or upon request of the Pastor, the DMW Ministry sits together as a group in a designated area or an area of their choosing.

On each First Sunday except during winter months (December, January, and February, when they wear black), the Deacons & Ministers Wives wear white and sit together in their designated seating. The ministry meets bimonthly-in February, April, June, August, October, and December-on the Saturday before the First Sunday. The ministry currently has 46 members.
