Job Description
Part Time Position: 5-10 hours per week
Reports to: Director of Youth Music/Youth Pastor
Position Summary
The Youth Drummer position at SMBC is vital in our youth church. The Youth Drummer is responsible for the rhythm, superior timing, and consistency within the song selections. The Youth Drummer will work with the Director of Youth Music. The Youth Drummer is expected to be available for youth music ministry rehearsals, weekly worship services, and various church functions, and special events.
The Youth Drummer will be someone who has the musical experience, discipline, and personal characteristics to engage our young people.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Youth Drummer position will be on a part time basis throughout the church year.
Presence at the church is required as follows:
- Four Sundays a month (Second, Third, Fourth, and Fifth) accompanying youth in worship at the 11:00am Youth Worship service. (Services held in Youth Church/Chapel)
- Weekly rehearsals for 1 to 1.5 hours with the Youth Choir/Praise Team
- Annual week-long Vacation Bible School in June
Qualifications
- Ability to play hymns, traditional gospel, contemporary gospel, and praise & worship songs.
- Ability to play with click tracks and stems.
- Possesses good organizational skills and a neat appearance.
- Possesses personality traits for dependable, consistent, good character, and passion for exalting God.
Salary Increase/Merit Raise
- Salary commensurate with experience
- Individual merit raises are considered at the end of the calendar year, but not necessarily every year.
- The amount will be based upon the recommendation of the Board of Deacons to the Church
